The Generac does not come with a cord. Is there a cord that is required or recommend; if so what does it cost?

We used standard outdoor extension cords strung together to run from the generator to our indoor appliances. You may consider a heavy duty cord with a multi-tap (usually 3 seperate plugs) at the end to run individual extension cords to each applicance. The multi-tap cord will run from the generator to the inside of your home. From there, you can run individual extension cords to each appliance. It is a little unsightly to have so many cords running through your home, but this is the only way I know of to make it work with a portable generator. The cords range in price from $13.97 (Holiday Living 25-ft 3-Outlet 16-Gauge Outdoor Extension Cord) to $18.97 (Utilitech 100' 16/2 Extension Cord). You will find many more expensive extension cord options. It will depend upon the length of cord needed to reach your applicances (better to have the cords longer than you need, than too short.)

Generac does not manufacture an extension cord as you have described. These types of extension cords can typically be purchased at your local hardware store or electrical supply store. You will want to ensure that the rating for the cord is listed for the amperage and distance you are interested in. If you are looking for a cord to utilize with the 20 amp receptacle and you have a minimum distance of 35 feet, you will want a cord that is rated for 20 amps at 35 feet, or 20 amps at 50 feet, etc, depending on your distance requirements.
