Generac GP15000E Generator backup remote hookup. 30/40 feet from home

You need an electrician, a 2 50 Amp electric cables, a 50 Amp Power Inlet Box and a transfer switch. The Transfer switch must be 200 amp 120/240 Volt (for a normal sized Home). Our electrician wired ours with a, 50 Amp Power Inlet Box and ran the 50 Amp cable under the House to the tranfser switch at the electrical panel. It cost under $1000 to wire everything. Happy generating!!!

Because Generac doesn't manufacture manual transfer switches, we can't give you specifics on what you will needs. What we can tell you is that for the generator to work well with the transfer switch, it must be a three-pole transfer switch. Additionally, because Generac portable generators are bonded neutral and most manual transfer switches are floating neutral, you will need to select a transfer switch that also switches the neutrals.
