Does this replace a soft start for an A/C on a generator?

Great question. Our SMMs do not necessarily replace soft starts, but are a great supplement to them. Soft starts control the amount of voltage running through a motor's circuits by limiting torque in the motor. The SMM has a similar, but different purpose by actively prioritizing and shedding loads so that the most essential appliances (such as an A/C or sump pump) get the power they need in an outage.
