Can this be used to remove film also

Thank you for your inquiry! The Gila Window Film Application solution wont help in removing old adhesive film as it is intended for installation and cleaning. To help you with your needs, I have listed out the steps below which outline a method of removing any brand of window film: Step 1: GATHER TOOLS- •Single-edge razor blades in a holder/scraper. ALWAYS USE STAINLESS STEEL single edge razor blades. They keep their sharpness longer, will not rust, and are far less likely to scratch glass. •Spray bottle filled with 8 oz. water, 4 oz. household sudsy ammonia, 1 tsp dishwasher liquid soap, •Disposable paper toweling to clean the razor blade edge •Old towel to protect window sill from loose adhesive •Drop cloth to protect floor Step 2: REMOVE THE TOP FILM LAYER- Use the razor blade to pry loose the top 1/2 - 3/4 inches along the top edge of the film. Spray the ammonia-water solution (aka "the solution") behind the lifted film and allow to soak for a minute. As you pry the film loose, continue to spray behind the loosened film. Continue this process until you have peeled 3-4 inches free from the glass. Using both hands, grasp this loosened film and pull the film downward slowly. You may find it easier to peel diagonally from one corner to the center, then the other corner toward the center, then bunch the film up in your hands and pull the remainder down toward the bottom of the window. If the film sticks, spray the solution behind it to loosen the grip of the adhesive. As you peel the film from the window, the tearing sound you hear is the shredding of the old adhesive as part of it comes away with the film and part of it remains on the glass. If the film tears into small pieces, or the film seems reluctance to detach easily from the glass try the following alternate method: OVERNIGHT SOAKING- For difficult film removals, let time do the work for you. Do the job overnight while you sleep, as follows: Spray the solution onto the top of the film, then cover the entire glass area with a precut plastic sheet, such as WHITE plastic trash bag material cut open to size to just cover the window glass area). You may need to razor-trim it to size. Apply the plastic sheet smoothly over wet film surface, then use masking tape strips to secure the bag around the inside of the window frame. Allow the trapped moisture, capped by the plastic sheet, to remain overnight. Overnight, the ammonia solution will have penetrated the film and softened the adhesive. In the morning, leaving the plastic in place, lift a corner of the white plastic and pick up a corner of the underlying film and slowly peel downward. Nearly all the adhesive should come off with the film. NOTE: If the film still does not come off the window, you may need to contact GIla technical support or a professional window film company to remove it. In this case, the adhesive type is almost certainly the type that cannot be removed except by careful scraping with specialized tools and trained personnel. We do not recommend unskilled people attempt to remove such film, as glass damage or personal injury may result. Step 3: REMOVE THE ADHESIVE- After removing the film, a translucent or clear layer of adhesive may remain on the glass, though this is not likely. To remove such adhesive, if it is present, generously spray the entire surface with the solution and replace the white plastic. Allow it so soak for 10 minutes. Moisture the plastic, and use Windex to keep the pane wet while you use a razor scraper to strip away this residual adhesive. Wipe the adhesive on the blade onto paper towels after each stroke. When you are finished with the job, toss these towels in the trash. Step 4: CLEAN THE WINDOWS- After removing all the adhesive, re spray the window with the ammonia-water solution and clean with a squeegee. Look for any white dots and pick them off; they are leftover pieces of adhesive. The glass may look cloudy for a few hours while the ammonia evaporates. If you plan to apply new film, clean the glass immediately with the soapy-water application solution and allow the glass to "breathe" for at least 24 hours before you apply new film. Re clean the glass before applying the new film.
