have a JVM6175EFES. unable to remove front panel to install char filter. screws came out, panel tilts out, door opens, but panel hangs up on hinge?

I saw your response Nancy, but I did not provide you the correct model, and my top panel has the 3 screws to remove. My model is JVM6175EF1ES, sn ZF2229577B. I did see a newer model on the floor at Lowes that had the 2 buttons on the top that provided access to the charcoal filter as you mentioned. I did call the GE answerline, and found out it was to simply remove the 3 screws, pull the right end free, and slide the panel to the right to clear the hinge so it would come off. Thank you, Larry

Dear Larry - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. Please re-check your Owner's Manual for instructions on changing the charcoal filter. Your model does not require removing screws. On your model, to remove the charcoal filter, disconnect power at your home main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug on the microwave. Open the filter door by pushing down 2 buttons on the top of the microwave just above the filter door. Push the filter at the bottom until it comes free of the locking tabs. Slide the filter down and out. To install a new filter, remove plastic and other outer wrapping from the new filter. Insert the filter into the left side of the front top opening of the oven. It will rest at an angle on 2 side support tabs and in front of the right rear tab. Then close the filter door. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
