What kind of wax?

This is petroleum wax not beeswax.

Beeswax would be to soft in warm climates and gets to hard when cool and is not sticky enough to maintain a good seal under a toilet. The wax used in toilet seal rings is a petroleum based wax. It may look like beeswax, but its not. It is very sticky and is perfect to prevent water leaks when properly placed under a toilet.

Fluidmaster does not use a Bee's wax to produce our wax rings. The Fluidmaster wax is a petroleum based wax designed to be very sticky in order to make a complete seal from the floor to the toilet base
