No, the float is built-in on the tube. Thus, no external float is needed.

The 400A fill valve supersedes older ball valve or ball cock technology. On the 400A, the float cup is included and completely integrated so a separate float ball is not required. In most cases, the 400A is a direct replacement for the float ball design and is an easy retrofit to update the performance of your toilet.
