Do you need to put anything underneath the rock to keep weeds from growing?

I used landscape fabric or weed block under the stones. You should not be bothered by weeds if you do that. It comes on a roll and is easy to trim to fit with regular scissors. Some rolls have little u-shaped pins to use where you have to splice pieces. The stones conceal it nicely and it looks great.
