Was this Answer Helpful ?The mower throws the cut grass to the front, so it does in effect mulch it as you continue to cut, moving forward and thus re-cutting the clippings. One possible drawback is that when you cut a long strip, you can end up blowing quite a lot of clippings ahead of the mower, making for a tough push. I break my lawn up into smaller patches so I don't get bogged down by too many clippings.

Was this Answer Helpful ?This mower does not mulch. However, the blades it leaves behind are thrown mostly forward, so you do go over them a 2nd time. I've always found that the lawn looks fine after using it, as opposed to a regular gas powered - side discharge non mulching mower.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Push reel mowers in general do not mulch grass if used properly they cut 1/4 to 1/2 inch off grass which breaks down easily proving a good source of natuaral nutrients for lawn which equals less fertilizer
Was this Answer Helpful ?Reel mowers naturally cut the grass into short pieces as a result of the reel spinning much faster than the mower is moving forward. Also the grass is thrown out into an even layer on the surface. And the Fiskar Momentum throws the grass forward so that any grass that doesn't immediately drop below the surface gets recut. The result is that there is very little grass left on the surface. The exception is if the grass is very tall and there will be some will be left on top. Even then as the cut grass dries it will usually drop below the cut height in a couple of hours. If you can't wait that long, simply take a leaf blower and sweep over the surface of the lawn. This breaks up any small clumps of cuttings and disperses them where they naturally drop below the cut surface.
