Yes the best tip I can give you is to return it. This is the exactly problem I have with the mower.

Not going to do it, no reel mower will. Pulled my crab grass by hand.

Just use a weedeater or pull up weed.

You can re-mow in the opposite direction and catch some of it. You can also wait a day or so for the tall vegetation to spring back up and hit it again. This mower does work best if you mow frequently, and don't let rouge weeds get too tall.

Get a different mower. This one is not good at cutting tall grass and weeds.

I have the same problem. The only thing I do is go around with my battery powered weed trimmer and touch up my lawn. It's really no problem to me. I got the 18v Black and Decker combo weed eater and comes with a free blower. All works great for me.

This is not what you will want to hear, but really the only way I have found is to mow that tall stuff down one time first, whether w/a weed whip, clippers or power mower, and then keep on top of it. I had the same problem. Learned my lessson.

raise the mower or i found that it cut taller items better if you push the mower on top of the tall item and let the blades spin in place . it doesnt work for all tall items but it worked for most of them for me.

Most grass should cut easily. Make sure the blades are adjusted as per the manual to ensure the best cutting possible. Unfortunately, some weeds and ornamental grasses grow tall quickly and become like straw. The mower will have difficulty with these. When you get to an area with these types of grasses, adjust the mower to it's highest height and see if that works. If not, when your edging or trimming, whack them down.

I ran into this, what I do is I offset the blade path so that I overlap each path I just cut and it seems to get all the grass blades cut. I did notice that if you have a narrow strip of grass that you can only make one cut path over and the grass is tall sometimes the tall blades in the direct center of the cutting reel do not get cut. I try to off set as much as I can and re-cut that strip. Or if all else fails use a string trimmer.
