How do you sharpen the blades?

IT is not necessary to sharpen these blades. I do recommend a person checks the lawn to make sure there are no thick branches in the way of cutting.

This means the only thing dulling your blades is your grass, which really shouldn't do so much damage that you need to sharpen it at all. Fiskars discourages sharpening the blades. They claim that home sharpening kits and even professional sharpeners "will likely not be able to achieve the strict tolerances required to maintain the non-contact nature of the StaySharp cutting system." I've only had mine a few days, so I can't confirm or deny Fiskars claims, although so far my experience of the mower has me believing them.

You just paint it on the side of each blade and then run the machine for a little bit to let it sharpen. There are also like sand paper type strips which can be bought and put on the mower and then you run the machine to sharpen it. However, I recommend taking it to any lawn mower professional and having the blades professionally sharpened. It will give you the best result.

Was this Answer Helpful ?the blades on fiskars should not need to be sharpend for years on standerd push reel due to blades rubbing against a steel plate they have to be sharpend every 2-3 years depenging on use. To sharpen blades on most you use a lapping or abrassive compound while turning blades in the reverse diriction of normal use. fisker and brill have a .003 thousandths gap between bladesand cutting plate so no rubbing equal no blade wear and little noise

It is this metal on metal contact that caused the those mowers to require frequent blade sharpening. So the Fiskar's mowers shouldn't need sharping for 5-7 years. After this period it might be time to just get a new mower. But if you want to try to get the blades sharpened, you could inquire at your local golf course to see who sharpens their reel mowers.
