Was this Answer Helpful ?Ignore nunya's ill-informed answer. This detects carbon monoxide leaks (CO) which is a different gas and is ODORLESS (hence the need for a carbon monoxide detector). Most natural gas companies put an additive in the natural gas so that you will smell the natural gas if it Check with your natural gas company to see if they do it. I often receive flyers in my bill for natural gas that tells you to immediately leave the premises and contact them if you detect the smell.
