I have a 4 hard wire ac /doc smoke detector from Firex, can I subsittute with any other manuufactur i.e. Like First alert or kiddle or Brk


All four wire should be compatible, but I would call Firex and ask them before I would purchase to be sure.

All hardwired systems are wired the same. Black is HOT, white is Neutral & orange is the wire which inter-connects ALL of the detectors together. You may have to disconnect the existing connector & put the new one on, but the units work the same.

I have replaced only worn out units with new ones and they seem to have no problems interchanging

The smoke detectors last only 10 years I just changed all the original hard wired one with these and they working well it has been 4 months no problem just make sure put fresh battery in
