Changing from Firex to First Alert smoke detectors, are there any changes that need to be made to the opening in the ceiling?


do not need to change the hole in the ceiling. Replace the bracket, but in my case did not even need to replace the screws that held the bracket in place. You probably will need to replace the wires that connect to the electric box in the ceiling and provide electric power to the unit and connect to other units in the home.

They are made to fit a standard elec box size. I think they also have extra tabs for other sizes too.
