I need to replace my current smoke detectors, BRK model # 86RAC, which are failing. Will model # 9120 B6CP interchange with those?


These units are a three wire unit as well if they are linked. You will probably have to wire in new sockets which come with the alarms as the style of sockets seems to change through the years. Easy to do just match the wire colors. Keep in mind you must find the circuit breaker that kills the alarm system before you start any work as this is live 110 volts. Some houses will have a dedicated circuit and some will be on a circuit with other devises. Always be sure to check that the power is dead at each detector before working on it. A pen type non contact tester is especially good for this as you can test by just touching the wire.
