Do all of these alarms have to be wired up?

It would be foolish to buy this unit if you were not hard wiring it into a system. There are battery ONLY smoke/CO detectors for less $$.
Was this Answer Helpful ?they can operate individually on battery power
Was this Answer Helpful ?As far as wiring them all up together, only if they are interconnected with the third wire. If not, individually will work but only that one will sound in the event of smoke on that side of the house. All will NOT sound.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Generally the hardwired alarms have a battery backup. They can run off the battery alone. An alternative would be to get that doesn't say "hardwired" on the box. Get one that says "battery" if you don't want to wire it.
