Why do these manuals say "BRK" when the devices say "First Alert"

BRK Brands owns the First Alert name as well. In other words First Alert detectors are made by the company named BRK.

Was this Answer Helpful ?Change the backup battery. This stopped the flashing red light on my hard wired First Alert/BRK. BRK is the contractor version of First Alert.

Just like Sears doesn't really build anything, Many of their Sears brand appliances are/were made by Whirlpool (which Sears eventually bought when they became such a dominant outlet for Whirlpool; they "controlled" Whirlpool). There are so many different technologies in fire protection now, it was probably the cheapest waty to go. I wouldn't worry about it.
