i have two VERY old hard wired detectors I need to replace. They arered, white and black wires from the wall. How do I match the wires


The detectors that I had were hard wired with plugs. I was able to unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones. If you old ones do not have plugs, I would suggest installing compatible plugs on the house side so you can plug in the new ones. The color of the wire sounds right.
