How does this sync with existing fan?

There is a receiver which is at the ceiling area of your fan. Your receiver have 4 button codes - the controller the remote at the wall should have the same 4 button codes set - they are to both match. this Fanimation Model has 4 digits button codes. They are on the side of the unit which will sit in the wall electric box.. This controller works with other brand models that have 4 digit codes. This model is my savior for that fact.
