It says carbon zinc right on the side of the battery in real life. It is inferior to alkaline in almost every way.

According to manufacturer's spec sheet (http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/1209.pdf), the chemistry is Zinc- Manganese Dioxide, which is another way of saying Alkaline. The "carbon zinc" description is incorrect.
