This charger is designed specifically to recharge Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) AA and AAA batteries. When a battery or any combination of AA, AAA NiMH batteries are inserted and the unit is plugged into line voltage, it instantly determines the voltage, capacity and charge level of each battery. An audible beep indicates that charging has started. A continuos beeping indicates that one or more of the batteries is either incompatible (Not NiMH) or no longer capable of maintaining a charge.
