What is the actual area that is heated? Is this the Chinese 6" reference design, or something actually newly engineered in a larger size.

Hi Roncalli, In the case of an induction cooktop, an electric current passes through a coil which creates a magnetic field all around and inside the cookware, which directly heat the cookware, and not the cooktop surface.
