Can this be placed on a regular rectangular outlet box?


you could always put a pancake box on a nearby stud, fish some romex between it and the outlet box. then you would have your outlet box & this one.

Hello, it would not be recommended. It needs to go on a ceiling wall box which is more octagonal box for Eaton ceiling Lamp holder # 667-BX-LW.
