The switch does not illuminate. The two hot wires (black) are installed on the switch terminals & the neutral (white) are capped). Please advise.


No. Do NOT connect Neutral to Ground. Doing so is against code. If you do a search of 'connect neutral to ground' all knowledgeble advice wll say DON'T.
