new or old cartridge?


Have used this Danco 86712 Moen Cartridge Puller on my 40+ year old Moen shower to pull the original Moen 1200 brass cartridge, and recently to pull a Moen 1225 plastic cartridge in another shower (and replaced it with a brass 1200). Works great. You can't get a calcified stuck cartridge out without one of these. Just follow instructions, and do NOT let the T-handle turn while you are wrenching the threaded nut down which SLOWLY removes any 1200 or 1225 regular cartridge, or the 1222 PosiTemp cartridge without breaking anything.

This puller is for the older Moen cartridges for single-handle faucets. It claims to work on the posi-temp cartridges (newer) but I have not tried it on one of those yet.

Thank you for your inquiry. This will work on both the Moentrol (Moen #1200 or #1225) and Positemp (#1222) cartridges.
