Is this a cement type compound? Or is it a gypsum type? Or other?


DAP Flexible Floor Patch and Leveler is an acrylic latex based patching compound, it does not contain portland cement or gypsum.

It feels like cement when dry and my floor installer sands it with a big belt sander before he starts to lay vinyl tile. However, the floor installer says that as it is very hard to get floors clean enough for the vinyl tiles to stick well, he uses an inexpensive glue/adhesive also found at Lowes. He spreads the adhesive in a thin layer- it takes a while to dry so you can clean excess and work with it without hurrying- and then lays the peel and stick vinyl planks on top. Looks great and it will not peel up. We uses it in rentals and high traffic areas.

DAP Flexible Floor Patch and Leveler is a hybrid polymer, not cement compound. So since you can only use a cement type this is not suitable for your vinyl plank flooring.
