Can this unit be used with water that comes from a water softner(salt)?


We have been using one and see no issue with it. Follow the direction of changing it out each night and it should not be an issue.

This question shows a lack of understanding on the part of Lowes: All humidifiers can be used with soft water. Water Softeners simply replace Calcium with Sodium. So instead of calcium deposits you get salt deposits. Ultimatly you should use distilled water and you'll get no deposits(or minimal). Or another replacement is use water sourced from an RO unit like ones even sold at lowes. Or use a inline filters designed for this and other commercial water purification that actually takes OUT the scale (search for inline humidifier filter) All humidifiers need daily rinsing and weekly disinfecting. If you aren't willing to maintain the unit you will create an unhealthy unit, you're better off getting a whole house humidifier
