what is the area one bottle of stripper will cover?

Most labels make predictions about how much surface area the product will cover but this is not always reliable (when in doubt buy and extra bottle) so it most likely will depend on the size of you project. I stripped an old oak office swivel chair with slats and some intricately shaped parts. The instructions suggest that you not be stingy when applying so you may want spread on fairly thick say minimum of 1/16 inch covering. Think the product was something like $12.00 and so if you time is worth money then be generous with the application and buy an extra bottle which you can return if you don't use it. The 32 ounce bottle was more then enough for my oak swivel chair and I still have product left for another use but not sure about the shelf life aspect till I start another project. Instructions suggest you try a small test area wait at least 30 minutes or all the way up to 6 hours. in my case 30 minutes was more then ample to strip my chair. After 30 minutes I started to scrape a small area and the gel had already loosened most all of the lacquer and stain on my chair to expose bare wood. If you are doing a large stripping job then you might want to divide it into sections and complete a section at a time. This might also give you advanced information on how much more gel you might need to buy.
Was this Answer Helpful ?You have to use a lot of stripper. A light coat will not remove the paint. It took a full quart for me to remove the paint off one side of my 32" x 81" door and the door has a fairly latge window in it.
