Can the door be taken off? If yes - how much does the door weigh?

The door hinges are welded to the body of the safe.So not without a torch.The safe weighs 270 lbs. and most of the weight is in the door.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Yes. if you read my review post dated 2/10/12 you will note I upgraded the safe. And to do that I removed the door once. It can be lifted off the two hinges only in one angle of the opened position and its a pain to do. It was even harder to realign the two hinges to the pins when reassembling. A helper mike make it easier as I was holding up the door by myself the whole time. I figure it weighs about 60 lbs. If you do remove the door, make sure you reinstall it before you bolt the safe down, especially in a corner as you will not be able to angle the door enough in the open position to reinstall it.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The door is quite heavy. It can be adjusted for fit, but no easy way to remove it. The hinges are internally placed.
