Can this be put in an outdoor storage shed and used from there?

Hi, look for a small unit with electric start. This model starts but sometimes on the 3rd or 4th pull. I don't recommend this unit for you. where the pull cord is, its hard to start. You can alway put a pipe on the muffler to pipe the exhaust out of the shed

Ok you have several question plugged into one so I will answer them one at a time. 1) You can put it in an outdoor storage shed; HOWEVER, it must be very well ventilated. 2) If you furnace uses less then 13A and 2000 watts, it will work fine. But most household furnace runs needs more then 3250 watts... Your may need a more powerful generator. ( 4000 - 7000+ watt generator with 20A (20 amp breakers) The one on this model only has a 13.5A circuit breaker, so your oil furnace will probably trip the circuit breaker depending on how much power it uses. 3) No you do not need a electrician. You just plug in some extension cords and plug it into the generator and your set. Its like plugging into any old outlet. It also depends if you have a plug for your furnace or not. 4) if you plan to run the micorwave, lights and a fridge your fine with this generator. 5) Do you need anything else. You need gasoline 87 octane will work fine. A full tank of gas will run about 8 hours depending on how much power you are using. And I almost forgot small engine oil. Make sure its at the full line. Also every some odd 100 hours you need to change the oil. Its in the manual. 6) Generators - Most of the time I use generators as back up generators for long power outages. I don't use generators for anything else. Or if your onsite that needs power. 7) Easy to use. In order to start the generator, you have to pull a cord. Most of the time its not that hard, just make sure the choke is on and the fuel vale is in the on position. If you can manage that, your fine. If not, you may want to look for other alternatives. I hope this answers your question.

The closer to your house the better. This is an easy start unit, you won't have any problem there. This unit is a plug in type; appliances and lights must be directly pluged into the unit. (extension cords can be used if properly sized#. To run your oil furnace a Reliance Controls manual transfer switch or equal needs to be installed #electrician needed here). I would recommend checking with an electrician before purchasing any equipment to be sure of your exact needs. This is a job for a professional. Money well spent.
