How do you get the bits out of the screwdriver

I got mine out by whipping the screwdriver really hard downward (DONT LET GO OF IT), constantly.

I got mine out using tweezers after spraying the opening with some white lithium grease.

Spray white lithium grease into the chuck, then while holding the chuck open shake it vigorously for several minutes up and down, with the chuck pointing down. The grease should help the bit slide out.

If you hold it with the handle sticking up, the bit should (with some light wiggling and shaking of the screwdriver) line up with the hole. I held mine like that for a few minutes while repeatedly moving the black release piece at the top. After some time the bit slid out.

The only solution to the problem, and it's not pretty, but is to drill a hole in the bottom of the ratchet large enough for the screwdriver bit to fall through. There after all you have to do is to remember to always have the extender in. Can't believe a product would be build with no forethought. May be why Sears is going bankrupt.
