Yes, but you need to take the staples off. It will leave a gap for the other section to lay on top of it. Then you use a staple to drive through both. This allows them to stay together and stay in the ground.

They sure can be! That is the whole idea, that way you have a "seamless" run of edging from beginning to end. Remove the attached stakes (two on each end) and the edging pieces will overlap, one over the other.

yes, 1. just remove the built-in stakes from the ends with a pair of pliers 2. line up the two ends so they overlap. 3. drive stakes through the slots on the ends, make them nice and straight and keep the edging parallel to the ground
