No but cut is possible if needed.

No. The spikes are removed giving you the joining lip. They snap off by bending them back and forth to break the spot welds.

It is not necessary to cut the first piece to start with. You have several options: 1) Leave the attached stakes attached and use a separately purchased Extra Stake in the pockets. 2) Remove the attached stakes and if the “gap” is at the bottom of the piece of edging under ground, just leave it that way. 3) Remove the attached stakes and if the “gap” is on top of the edging simply bend it out of the way. 4) Remove the attached stakes and cut the end off, using a separately purchased Splicing Stake on the end.
