It will work as long as the area you are using it is clear of rust and strong enough. Drilling holes in the good metal where you are applying the Bomdo will allow better holding power.

I would use JB Weld or something similar that dries harder than bondo. Make certain that you remove as much rust as possible beforehand, and some good primer afterward.
