What tool is used to cut the wood laminate pieces?

Chop saw works best. Quick. Exact cuts. Well worth borrowing one .

Scissors

I cut half a houseful of the stuff with a carbide bladed circular saw. The blade is at least 25 years old and I've used it for cutting everything, but I think I owe myself a new one now.

No you don't have to buy another tool; you can use a table saw or a miter saw or compound miter saw or electric skill saw, but you will need a saw. Just depends on how much you will be sawing and what convenience you want. Even a hand saw will work but you will be very tired afterwards (or have an arm in really good shape)....An electric skill saw is fine but more cumbersome. I bought a 4 3/4" skill table top saw specially made for laminate and wood flooring. It cuts angles and works as a rip saw or sliding "chop' saw. It was inexpensively priced. The blade that comes with it wont last for all your flooring if it is around the same size room I was flooring (about 280 SF).I bought an extra premium blade and it is much more durable than the one that came with the saw. I recommend a saw that cuts both angles and acts as a chop saw....That will also come in handy when you're finishing your floor with baseboard or quarter-round or shoe molding.... Although an inexpensive Stanley model miter box saw works too (also sold at Lowe's...)

I use a table saw with the blade turned backward. Yes, you'll burn through blades pretty quickly, but it makes a smooth cut without ripping or chipping the laminate. Saw blades are cheaper than new flooring.
