It seems like it makes the pump run too long. Almost sounds like it's running dry towards the end of the cycle. Don't want to damage the pump.

The Universal Float Switch, when raised, will run the pump for approximately 10 seconds. There is no way to adjust the run time, but you may want to raise the position of the float so that there is more water to empty when the pump comes on.
