Why are there differences in Valspar Duramax? i.e. Base 1, Base 2, etc.


The various bases found within the Valspar line of paints are used to tint the 1,000’s of available colors. Once you choose your color, the Lowe’s associate will determine which base is necessary to achieve that specific color.

Bases are used to mix paints. These are not paints to be used directly off the shelf. They must have tint colorant added to activate the properties of the paint.

It has to do with the amount of tint going into the can for starters... there has to be room
