can I use a roller to apply the stain? if so what type would be the best.

I know they say not to use a roller here, but I've found on my application it works best. I'm staining rough sawn wood.
Was this Answer Helpful ?I use a 3/4 inch nap roller, my deck hadn’t been stained for 7 years, the 1/2 inch nap is good if your deck boards are in really good shape
Was this Answer Helpful ?Apply with nylon or polyester brushes, stain pads or professional spray equipment. When spraying, always back-brush immediately.To ensure desired appearance and proper drying time, always finish a small test area before proceeding. Apply to small sections at a time (1–3 boards); start at one edge of the board and work end-to-end, following through to the end of the boards to avoid lap marks. A one-coat application is recommended.
