can I use a roller to apply the stain? if so what type would be the best.


I know they say not to use a roller here, but I've found on my application it works best. I'm staining rough sawn wood.

I use a 3/4 inch nap roller, my deck hadn’t been stained for 7 years, the 1/2 inch nap is good if your deck boards are in really good shape

Apply with nylon or polyester brushes, stain pads or professional spray equipment. When spraying, always back-brush immediately.To ensure desired appearance and proper drying time, always finish a small test area before proceeding. Apply to small sections at a time (1–3 boards); start at one edge of the board and work end-to-end, following through to the end of the boards to avoid lap marks. A one-coat application is recommended.
