Can indicates "must be tinted". If I plan to use as a "white" paint is tinting required. Is there a reason/benefit that tint MUST be added?


Yes you will want to have it tinted. They have the formula to tint it white. Otherwise it will not cover itself even. Same seems to go for all the paint that is "paint and primer in one". Including the Valspar reserve. I speak from experience and have 30 + years painting experience. Good luck, if the Lowe's rep is unsure have them contact the S-W rep (same as Valspar rep now)
