Is artificial grass better than real grass for a backyard lawn?

Artificial grass is often better for busy households because it stays green year-round, needs no mowing, uses less water and resists heavy foot traffic. Real grass can feel cooler and support natural ecosystems, but needs regular mowing, fertilizing and watering. The right choice depends on maintenance time, climate and how the space is used.

How do you install artificial grass on a patio or concrete surface?

To install artificial grass on a patio, clean the concrete, repair cracks, and let it dry. Add a thin foam or drainage underlayment if needed, then roll out the turf, trim edges, glue seams, and secure the perimeter with outdoor adhesive. Brush the fibers upright and add infill if recommended.

Is artificial grass safe for dogs and other pets?

Artificial grass is generally safe for dogs and other pets when made from non-toxic materials and installed with good drainage. Pet-friendly turf resists digging, stains and odors. Pick products with perforated backing, antimicrobial infill, and rinse regularly to keep the surface clean and fresh.

How do you maintain artificial grass so it lasts longer?

To maintain artificial grass, regularly remove leaves and debris, brush the fibers to prevent matting, and hose it down to wash away dust. For high-traffic or pet areas, use a mild turf cleaner, deodorizer or enzyme spray. Check infill levels occasionally and top up where the surface feels flat.
