Use Conduit Body Fittings for a Safe Electrical
Installation
Conduit body
fittings connect electrical conduits to conduit bodies. The conduit body fittings and conduit
bodies work together to protect the wiring in your home or building. At Lowe’s,
we have an array of conduits
and conduit fittings to help you safely complete your electrical
project.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are conduit bodies?
A: A conduit body is a separate section of the raceway, the
enclosed channel that wires run through, that comes into play at points where the
conduit changes directions. Conduit bodies come in a variety of materials and
sizes, as well as different levels of moisture resistance for protection
against weather and corrosion. Conduit body fittings connect the conduit bodies
to the conduit.
Q: What are the different types of conduit bodies?
A: At Lowe’s, we carry five types of conduit bodies: Type LR, Type
LB, Type LL, Type T and Type C. The primary differences among these types lie
in the number and placement of the openings in the conduit body. Types LR, LB
and LL are options when you need a 90-degree turn. Type T is for when you need
to split a run into two directions. The purpose of a Type C conduit body is to
connect two lengths of wire.
-
Type LR conduit bodies have openings on the top and the right side.
-
Type LB conduit
bodies have openings on the top and the back side.
-
Type LL conduit bodies have openings on the top and the left side.
- Type T conduit bodies have openings on the top, left and right sides.
-
Type C conduit bodies have openings on the top and bottom.
Q: What’s the difference between LB, LL and LR conduit
bodies?
A: The primary difference between an LB conduit body, an LL
conduit body and a LR conduit body is in the placement of the openings. All
three have one opening on top and another opening on the left, right or back.
