I can't really say enough good things about this product. I've used it for 4 builds over a 4 year period; in two of our personal home renovations as well as a home office build and now to insulate an apartment building we're renovating. The cost per sq ft is even less than rock wool and not that much more than fiberglass and the benefits are completely worth it. Like others have said, no itch, no fiberglass particles that can ruin your lungs and no toxic chemicals. It is very difficult to cut...
Perfect for Recording Studio!
I built 8 acoustic panels with this stuff. It’s perfect because it’s safe in home and actually has a higher NRC rating than Owens Corning. So it absorbs more sound frequencies than the stuff the pros use. This was perfect for making 3” acoustic panels. No gloves or face mask required!
Amazing product
Used kraft faced fiberglass batts to insulate and drywall the garage. Absolute nightmare with fiberglass in clothes, skin, etc. Used ultra touch for the rest of the housewhile replacing the siding. Super easy to use, easy to clean up, and no itch! Definitely still need PPE and a very sharp knife as cutting was tough. Perforations we're helpful as well. Minor concerns: Not all batts are perforated. Not all bags are the same. Some contained product that was darker in color (who cares) but we're ...
Good for the environment, good for you
For years, I've dreaded dealing with insulation: burning nose, itchy skin, gloves, respirator, fully covered and sweating profusely in my attic in summer. I had to throw away a pair of sneakers because of the fiberglass dust that I couldn't remove. But no more! I can handle denim insulation with my bare hands, I can wear light clothing when it's hot, AND the material is recycled and recyclable. What more could I ask?
No Itchy and Environmentally friendly
I Liked the idea of a recycled product and the fact that it is not irritating to my skin. It however dies have fine particles that can make you cough. If you stud spacing is perfect, this product fits great, but if the spacing is a little too wide, you will need to staple it. Very difficult to cut transversely and almost impossible to cut longitudinal. But since it is recycled denim well worth these issues.
Not what expected
This recycled denim insulation is too wide for a standard 16” stud bay and not the full depth of 3.5”. It is about 2-2.5” thick even when left for 24 hours ro expand. It is not easy to cut and while perforated, the perforations are not uniform from batt to batt. It is not itchy like fiberglass or rockwool which is a positive. More expensive than other insulation, I am not sure I will use again. I like the “green” aspects but the drawbacks are too many....
A great product for soundproofing.
I purchased this denim insulation for soundproofing a studio as I have in the past. When unpacked, it expands nicely into easily installable 8ft-ish rolls. It's very easy to work with. You can rip pieces off when you need to shorten and add pieces in if too short. It's pre-perforated down the length of a few pieces so, you can adjust the width as needed. It does create a little dust when ripping but, much cleaner to work with than the pink stuff. Wear breathing protection. I highly recommend!
Best Alternative To Fiberglass
We recently had a door and window installed on the rear of the house so the interior of the exterior wall was demolished to accommodate the construction. This gave us the perfect opportunity to try this new type of insulation the remaining wall area with this product. It was not as easy to size and install as fiberglass but then again, not as irritating to the skin. But what you lose in convenience you gain in using a recycled material that is also flame and critter retardant. I am planning on u...
Eco-safe product for my DIY project
UltraTouch: Great product & great price, especially for my purposes. Easy to work with, easy to cut with scissors, and worked great to create my own DIY sound absorption panels. LOVE that it has no fiberglass or nasty chemicals and is recycled material, thx!
Wonderful!
Easy to use and install. Will be buying again for my screened in porch. Great product. Stapled it in and then put up wall board. This was in my shed. I live in AZ and it made a big difference in temps.
