more then just for what they say
Been using these both as intended and keep roof beams secure to the frame of my pallet shops/sheds. I invert them so I can secure the 2x4 (with 2x6 joist hanger) runners down to the solid walls of my shops and sheds. After 2 hurricane seasons (1st being Florence that also spun a Tornado directly behind my house) on the NC coast, my roofs and buildings are still standing with next to no damage (Florence blew a door off one my shops, but that was it). These are definitely worth the buy, and hav...

These hangers are not intended to be screwed in or shot with a pneumatic nail gun. They are engineered to specific codes to hold weight, only if installed correctly with the correct fasteners. Screws and galvanized nails do not have the same sheering force, so they can't carry the same load. If you do install these, use the proper nails recommended by the manufacturer, and put a nail in every hole, that is what they are intended for.
USP Brackets great, not Simpson
These brackets are great if made by MiTek, which is the bracket model listed . Evidently with everything going on Lowes purchasing was not able to get the USP brackets and bought alternative supplier brackets. The Simpson brackets have holes that are slightly smaller than the USP brackets and it makes it difficult to get size 10 deck screws through the holes.

Screws are a no-no. Pneumatic tools are okay, per manufacturer's instructions: " Pneumatic nail tools may be used to install connectors, provided the correct quantity and type of nails (length and diameter) are properly installed in the nail holes. Tools with nail hole-locating mechanisms should be used. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use the appropriate safety equipment. Overdriving nails may reduce allowable loads."
Simpson strong tie
I'd like to meet the CEO of simpson strong tie so I could kiss him! Their products are fantastic and worth every penny. I wouldn't build a deck without using this product. So much better then toe nailing/toe screwing. Increases the strength of the deck significantly. I'll be putting a hot tub on the deck and I have no concerns since I'm using this product. Very easy to use. If I was the maker, I'd consider slight modifications, but just minor. I've used these with each deck I've built and will d...
Good hanger for the right purpose
I bought these for framing out the flooring joist on a shed project and didn't really think much of them at first. I had planned on using a nail gun to at least mount them to the frame and toe nail them by hand. They bent too much when nailed with a pneumatic gun and the holding spikes were difficult to get them to stay in place. These would probably be good if I had planned on nailing them all by hand but I just ended up shooting nails from the ends.
USE NAILS!
We used this product to build our deck. We used screws to install them. The building inspector came today and told us WE MUST USE NAILS PER THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS! There ARE NO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS ANYWHERE!! We now have to remove all the screws and put in nails. This should be specified somewhere!! Even the reviews suggest using screws. VERY FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER!!!
Alternate use redesign
I used these hangers for 2x4s in my garage for additional load support by folding the upper nailer ears over the top of the horizontal rafter.
Necessary for all unsupported floor joists. Suggest using 1" square drive exterior screws for attaching the hanger to vertical support(s) before driving toe-nail screws or nails. I use exterior or galvanized fasteners to eliminate potential rust stains in future years.
Easy to use
For a product that is very inexpensive, it sure makes framing a platform or deck a lot easier.
