Tekton Retaining Ring Pliers are built for a single, dedicated purpose. By keeping things simple and free of unnecessary features, they remain lean and optimized for the job. Just grab them and go—no adjustments, loose parts, or compromises. The tips of the pliers are angled to securely hold the ring with a downward pressure, preventing the ring from slipping off. The tips are smooth, straight, and free of burrs to create a consistent, controlled grip on the ring. A crimp at the end of each jaw permanently holds the tips in place. The two forged handles are permanently bolted together and spring-loaded. The spring is oiled and housed inside the joint, keeping it hidden and protected while providing smooth, quiet operation. The joint is not adjustable or serviceable. The forged handles get wider in the center and are coated with vinyl grips to improve control and comfort. The tip size and function are clearly laser-marked on the pliers for quick reference. The tips are made of ASTM-E52100 bearing steel that's hardened to 47–53 HRC with nickel plating. The jaws are made of S45C steel that's hardened to 37–43 HRC with black oxide finish and a light coating of rust inhibitor. The pivot screw is made of AISI-1015 steel with nickel plating. It is not removable. The handle grips are made of single-layer vinyl, and the oiled internal spring is made of 1065 spring steel. This set includes four easy-access pouches that keep the pliers securely in place.
