Nova Zembla is a broadleaf evergreen rhododendron that is easy to grow and hardy even into the southern portions of USDA hardiness zone 4. It has an upright habit growing up to 8 feet tall, and 5 to 6 feet wide. Evergreen leaves stay green all Winter. The bright red flowers are know to attract hummingbirds and butterflies, and they cover the plant each spring beginning in April or May, depending on your zone. Hardy in USDA zones 4 to 8. More heat tolerant than most, the vareity does well in all of hardiness zone 8.
