Green Mountain Boxwood is perfect for low formal hedges. Often used as a non-intrusive low hedge around other plantings to draw attention. For example, as an outline to separate a rose garden from the rest of the bed. Very well adapted to shearing. Grows slowly to 2 ft. to 3 ft. tall by the 10th year. Will eventually mature to 3 ft. to 5 ft. tall. It has an upright, healthy growth habit, which combined with its slow growth makes it perfect and easy choice for a low maintenance hedge. Does well even in the deep south. Rabbits and deer don't like it. Recommended for USDA hardiness zones 5 to 9. All of our hedge kit boxwoods are field grown in western Michigan's sandy loam soils, so it has a very well-developed fibrous root system. Never spent a day of it's life in a pot. So, it has never had to suffer from a pot-bound root system and there is less transplant shock and quicker adaptation when planted into a new soil type.
