Black knight butterfly bush is an easy-to-grow, drought-tolerant shrub. It produces fragrant, dark purple, nearly black flower spikes that lure butterflies to the garden from midsummer to frost. The flower spikes grow up to 10 in. long and look dramatic against the dark green foliage. Growing 6 ft. to 12 ft. tall, black knight can be planted as a focal point in a sunny or partially shaded garden. While it attracts butterflies, deer tend to avoid it.
