Jane Magnolia is a hybrid magnolia in the Little Girl Series created at the National Arboretum. It is a Japanese magnolia tree with large, beautiful pink-purple flowers that will make an elegant and tranquil edition to your yard or garden. Jane is a deciduous tree, and its flowers bloom in late winter to early spring. It is a particularly shrubby form blooming later than other species of magnolia mitigating loss of flower buds from late frosts. It exhibits a medium growth rate and reaches a mature height of about 10-15 feet with a spread of 8-12 feet. It is hardy to -15 degrees or USDA Zones 6-9.
