What Customers Are Saying
Customers are divided on this deck staining tool. Many praise its even application, speed compared to brushes, and ergonomic design with pivoting head and extension handle compatibility. However, a substantial portion report the pad retention system fails frequently—the clip and spring mechanism lacks sufficient pressure, causing pads to detach during use, especially on rough surfaces. Several note plastic tracks warp under pressure and the entire head separates after hitting rough spots. Pad quality opinions vary; some find it tear-resistant while others report tearing on rough wood. Cleanup is generally easy, though some mention the pad retains stain in the housing. Despite strong performance when functioning properly, durability concerns significantly impact overall satisfaction.

Fell apart very quickly. Did not apply product very well.
The only paint pad for me!
This paint pad was exactly what I needed to cover a larger area on my deck. The pad lasted throughout the entire job and didn’t tear like several brands before have. Great product!!
Easier and faster than a brush
Applied oils based stain to a deck. Much faster and easier than a brush. Applies even coat and applied the stain into the textures of the wood. I would still recommend a brush for the cut ends of boards. The primary drawback as echoed by most of the other reviewers here is that pad continually came off of the holder if you made even a slight sideways stroke. The oil based stain made it more slick, so that didn’t help the applicator to hang onto the pad. The clip doesn’t seem to have enough press...
